Poland Creek Campground Improvements Moving Forward
The Town of Louisville is moving forward with improvements to Poland Creek Campground and Recreation Area through a $100,000 Tourism Enhancement Grant from the State of Tennessee.
The project includes a new fishing pier, leveling campsites and gravel recreation areas, improvements around campsites, and reroofing and painting the existing bathhouse.
Kimley-Horn is currently finalizing the project’s engineering and design. The Aquatic Resource Alteration Permit (ARAP) has been submitted, and the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) is being prepared for submission. The Section 26a permitting process is continuing, with the 100% plan set expected to be provided to the Town for review in mid-September.
These improvements will help enhance one of Louisville’s most-used recreational areas while supporting outdoor recreation and tourism in our community.
Poland Creek is more than a recreational destination—it is part of what makes Louisville a place to call home.
Rankin Ferry Loop is now OPEN to all traffic.
Paving is complete, and the roadway has reopened for normal travel.

Food trucks are a fun and convenient way to enjoy great food, but operating a mobile food unit in Tennessee involves more than simply firing up the grill and opening the window! Before operating, food truck vendors must make sure they have the appropriate licenses, permits and inspections required by the State of Tennessee and other applicable jurisdictions.
✅ BUSINESS LICENSE/REGISTRATION
Food truck operators must maintain the appropriate business registration and, when applicable, county and/or municipal business licenses.
✅ HEALTH PERMIT & INSPECTION
Mobile food units that prepare and serve food must meet Tennessee food-safety requirements and obtain the appropriate food-service permit. This includes inspections addressing important areas such as proper food storage, preparation, handwashing, sanitation, temperature control and waste disposal.
✅ FIRE SAFETY INSPECTION/PERMIT
Mobile food units with applicable cooking, electrical or fuel equipment must meet Tennessee fire-safety requirements. Tennessee also offers an annual State Fire Marshal mobile food unit permit that demonstrates compliance with applicable fire and electrical safety standards.
✅ ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS MAY APPLY
Depending on where and how a food truck operates, additional state or local requirements may apply. Vendors are responsible for making sure all required licenses, permits and inspections are current before operating or participating in an event.
These requirements aren't just paperwork — they're designed to help protect food truck operators, their employees and, most importantly, the customers they serve.

Rankin Ferry Road and Louisville Boat Dock Road Intersection Closure
The intersection of Rankin Ferry Road and Louisville Boat Dock Road will be closed to through traffic August 31 through September 6 while repairs are completed to correct a pavement-shoving issue at the intersection. During the closure, traffic will be required to enter and exit Rankin Ferry Road from the opposite end. A turnaround will be provided just before the work zone for school buses and other vehicles.

Louisville Takes Proactive Stand to Preserve Small-Town Character by Restricting Data Centers and Warehouses
Louisville, Tennessee — The Town of Louisville is taking proactive steps to preserve its small-town character through recent zoning updates that restrict data centers and manufacturing warehouses within town limits.
Over the past two years, Mayor Jill Pugh has led efforts to update the Town’s zoning regulations to ensure that future growth aligns with Louisville’s long-term vision. The updated regulations, adopted by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in January 2026, clarify that data centers and manufacturing warehouses are not permitted uses on commercially zoned property.
In addition, Mayor Pugh advocated for the development of a new comprehensive master plan, which was approved as part of the Town’s 2026–2027 budget. The master plan will serve as a guiding framework for future land use, transportation, economic development, and infrastructure planning while preserving the community’s unique character. A key component of the master plan process will be incorporating citizen input to ensure residents have a meaningful voice in shaping the Town’s future.
“Planning ahead is one of the most important responsibilities of local government,” said Mayor Jill Pugh. “These actions ensure Louisville can responsibly manage growth while protecting the qualities that make our town a special place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Town officials say these initiatives reflect Louisville’s ongoing commitment to proactive planning, responsible growth, and clear expectations for residents, property owners, and future development, while preserving the town’s identity for generations to come.
